For our first release of 2014, we are proud to offer a gorgeous tune (dub and steppers mixes) from Ras Heights of Ital Sound System, and Rob Paine of Worship Recordings and Solomonic Sound fame. Both have deep roots in reggae and electronic music, with decades of combined prowess in production, parties, and promotions, foundation style.
Teach Dem Dub is a heavy and heady masterpiece of modern dubwise bringing all of the duo’s experience at the controls to bear. A massive one drop riddim, hi-hat triplets and panned percussion, warm key stabs, melodica rocking, Rasta wisdom, and huge, enveloping bass warmth make this a cut for the ages, honoring the past and brimming with optimism for the future. Teach Dem Steppers adds a 4/4 kick for double-time propulsion while opening space and extending the echo trails, making a wicked transition side for selectors reaching from roots to steppers, or a peak time platter in itself.
Rob Paine came to worldwide prominence after founding Worship Recordings, quickly becoming one of the leading lights of dub house and dub techno, both as a producer and label boss. Deep Space, Fabric, and key events from Mexico to London to Jamaica and long-running residencies in Philly and DC have cemented his rep as a true visionary and innovator, pushing the sounds of reggae, house, and techno together from day one.
